InfoBasis Enterprise Skills Infrastructure™

ESI enables you to realize the benefits of skills management, from strategic workforce asset planning and resource deployment to learning delivery, after rapid configuration, rather than by waiting for the production of custom code.  ESI has been adopted as a platform for skills management services by clients including Microsoft Corporation, the British Computer Society and the British Army.

Choose from three products:

Readiness Manager – enables skills-based training needs analysis across your organisation, or for a specific project.

InfoBasis ESI™ Standard – a complete skills management solution which can be hosted, or installed within your organization

InfoBasis ESI™ Professional – offers additional functionality, including resource planning and vacancy analysis. In addition, it can be synchronized with existing HR systems. Available solely through installation.

InfoBasis Readiness Manager enables comprehensive Training Needs Analysis (TNA) enabling you to see whether your organisation has the skills it needs. Using the unique InfoBasis methodology, three data sets are collected: the current skills level of the workforce, the business-required skill level, and the training interventions that will fill the gap. From these three points of data, standard reports include the cost of required training, potential skills weakness 'hot spots', and personal development plans for each employee. InfoBasis Readiness Manager is web-based, browser-independent, hosted solution, so there is no need for complex installations, and the system can be up and running in a matter of days. InfoBasis Readiness Manager turns TNA from a paper-based chore that rapidly grows out of date to a vital business process that engages the entire workforce.

InfoBasis ESI™ Standard enables skills management across the organisation - whatever its size. Using the unique 7-step InfoBasis methodology, employees and managers work together to build a picture of their skills, and to set personal development priorities and plans. InfoBasis ESI's web-based infrastructure allows all staff – human resources, executive, operational and employees – to participate in this vital process.

  • Skill Inventory

    • The InfoBasis skills inventory is at the heart of all skills management and workforce optimisation processes. Skills inventories are configured to each client’s unique skills schema – its specific organisational model, job roles and competency levels – to which their staff skills are mapped. The skills inventory is highly flexible, it allows new schemas to be modelled and implemented as the company evolves, and extensive analysis of staff skills to be performed.

  • Skills Gap Analysis

    • InfoBasis’ skills gap analysis identifies divergence between business objectives and operational status, by comparison of the objectives set by management against the staff skills deployed. Skills gap reports can be produced for specific areas of the company, whilst drill-down tools allow managers to identify specific individuals that require up-skilling.

  • Workforce Development Planning

    • By making the skills of the organisation highly visible, managers can quickly establish where the workforce is over-skilled, and where there is a definite skill requirement. By setting the appropriate skill objectives, managers trigger a training needs analysis process that ensures effective delivery of appropriate learning content, within a specified time frame.

  • Skills Capture and Assessment

    • InfoBasis skills capture processes encourage staff to regularly update their skills. Information is captured and validated using a number of established methods – self-assessment, manager appraisals, 360 Degree assessment, certification of training undertaken and compliance configured to specific industry regulations. Workflow agents ensure assessments and manager validation occur at pre-described intervals.

InfoBasis ESI™ Professional extends the skills management functionality and benefits available in the Standard edition. This wider functionality enables organisations to build skills management into their standard HR procedures. This is enhanced by the availability in InfoBasis ESI™ Professional of connectors to link into existing HR systems. The additional benefits of the Professional edition include:

  • Capability Modelling

    • Complete visibility of skills allows managers to understand how their organisation can meet its current and future business goals. InfoBasis capability modelling tools can be used to apply what-if scenarios and assess how to transition an organisation to meet new strategic objectives.

  • Workforce Asset Valuation

    • To date, companies have only been able to quantify the cost of their human capital using HR and payroll systems. InfoBasis allows billing and other value measures to be associated to skill levels and job functions so that the true worth of your personnel can be measured as a revenue generating entity.

  • Communicating Business Change

    • InfoBasis incorporates a robust deployment process to communicate new business directives through the organisation, to the management layers where mobilisation is required to execute the objective. The deployment process uses configurable templates and forms to provide structured information detailing mobilisation levels, from which managers can plan resourcing and up-skilling.

  • Performance Measurement

    • Management can review performance improvements through InfoBasis’ reporting suite. This provides a quantitative view of resource changes and re-skilling so far undertaken. By further integration into core business systems, such as call centre and sale systems, managers can also view improvements in the business goals set, for example improved customer service.
